Privacy Policy

Your craft. Your data.

Last updated: November 11th, 2025

Resumancer is a journal for builders. We only collect the information we need to run the service, keep your streaks in sync, and help you share progress on your terms. This policy explains what data we store, why we store it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

  • Account basics. Email, username, and password hashes required to authenticate you into the terminal and profile views.
  • Journal content. Entries you create (build, impact, goal, reflection), tags, branch metadata, and visibility settings. Private entries stay private unless you explicitly publish or share them.
  • Device basics. Minimal technical data (browser version, IP, rough region) captured when you log in so we can secure your account and detect abuse. We do not run advertising pixels or sell analytics.
  • Optional imports. When you trigger an external import (such as pulling experience from a professional network or connecting via OpenID Connect), we temporarily process the account identifier you submit, the structured entries returned, and minimal metadata (method, status, timestamps). Manual JSON imports only handle the payload you paste.

How We Use Your Data

  • Provide the journaling, streak, and profile features described in the product scope.
  • Sync entries between devices through our Convex backend and generate private insights such as streaks or progress summaries.
  • Surface optional public views when you enable them (e.g., your /profile page).
  • Send service communications (account security, product updates you opt into).
  • Debug, secure, and improve the experience — for example, detecting abuse or understanding feature usage at an aggregate level.

Integrations & Imports

Connecting outside services (for example, professional networks or identity providers) is optional. When you choose to connect, we only process the minimal data required to prove ownership and import the structured career history you request. Imported entries live inside your Resumancer account and inherit the visibility settings you choose.

Manual import flows run entirely in your browser — only the JSON you paste is uploaded — and we do not run automated scrapers without your explicit action. You can disconnect an integration or delete imported content at any time.

Some partners (including LinkedIn) require Resumancer to satisfy their developer criteria — things like hosting this privacy policy, supporting OpenID Connect, or completing an app review. We handle those obligations on the product side while continuing to act as your processor for any data you choose to import.

When We Share Data

We do not sell your data. We only share it with:

  • Service providers. Convex (database/sync), analytics strictly necessary to operate the product, and infrastructure vendors that host resumancer. Each is bound by confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal requirements. If we receive a lawful request, we’ll review it carefully, notify you when permitted, and only disclose what is required.
  • People you choose. Entries marked public or explicitly shared become visible to others according to those settings.

Retention & Control

  • You can edit or delete any journal entry from your account dashboard.
  • Deleting your account removes journal content from our production systems within 30 days, except for minimal audit logs we must keep for security.
  • Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis and are inaccessible for live product use.

Your Rights

  • Request a copy of your data or export your journal entries.
  • Ask us to correct or delete information you believe is inaccurate.
  • Withdraw consent for features like public profiles or third-party imports at any time.

Email privacy@resumancer.com with the email tied to your account and we’ll respond within 30 days.

Security

We apply industry-standard safeguards to protect your account and journal. That includes encrypted connections, hashed credentials, limited access to production systems, and automated monitoring so we can respond quickly to suspicious activity. When something looks unsafe, we may pause access or request additional verification to keep your workspace secure.

Children

Resumancer is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes we’ll update the date at the top of this page and notify you via email or in-app notice. Continued use of Resumancer after changes means you agree to the revised policy.
